Initially, it was named Villa Jos\u00e9phine, constructed by the French colonial government as a vacation retreat.<\/p>\n<p>In 1932, King Bao Dai visited the palace and was greatly impressed by its architecture and the surrounding scenery. In 1949, the French Governor-General of Indochina presented the palace to King Bao Dai. From then on, the villa was named Bao Dai Palace or \"The King's Palace.\"\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>King Bao Dai used the palace as a retreat whenever he visited the North from 1933 to 1954. During the French resistance war, the palace was completely destroyed. In 1999, the \u0110\u1ed3 S\u01a1n Tourism Joint-Stock Company restored the palace to its original design.
